Panasonic Launches a New Rugged Android Smartphone With Mediocre Specifications

Panasonic today expanded its Toughbook lineup of smartphones with the Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1. The smartphone has been launched in Europe at a hefty price tag, despite sporting mediocre specifications. But that’s how Panasonic deal with the Toughbook lineup of smartphones. The earlier launched Toughbook smartphones also offered entry-level specifications, but the company charged a premium price for them too. The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 comes with MIL-STD 810G, IP68 water & dust resistant certifications. Alongside that, the smartphone sports a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 5-inch display and thankfully, it runs Android 8.1 Oreo.

Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 Specifications and Features
Panasonic stated that it released the FZ-T1 for the retail sector and it can be used to scan barcodes (thanks to the inbuilt barcode scanner), shelf stocking and more retail features have been embedded into the handset. Other features such as inventory management, documentation capture, navigation maintenance are also added to the smartphone, which will help the field of works.

As mentioned, the Panasonic FZ-T1 is designed for military standard 810G, dust and water resistant to IP68, capable of withstanding drops of up to 1.5m, and can be operated within a temperature range of -10 to +50C. The device also comes with various security and ease of management features such as Panasonic COMPASS (Complete Android Security and Services) 2.0. Panasonic COMPASS offers everything businesses need to securely deploy and manage their Panasonic rugged Android devices.

Moving onto the technical specifications, the Panasonic FZ-T1 boasts a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Being a rugged smartphone, the handset comes with Glove and Rain modes. Panasonic has added a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8009 chipset to power the smartphone, and it works in tandem with 2GB of RAM. An 8MP shooter is present on the rear side, while the phone lacks a front-facing camera. The device is backed by a 3200mAh, and Panasonic promises an all-day battery life with the handset. The device weighs 240 grams and measures 13.1mm in thickness. The device boots Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
