Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has come up with a new prepaid tariff plan of Rs 171, which offers benefits in-line with those of private operators tariff plans. This new STV 171 is also part of the company's Trump Special STVs which now start at Rs 171 and goes up to Rs 421. And do make note that these STVs are available only for prepaid MTNL users in Delhi and Mumbai circles. This new plan offers 1.5GB data benefit per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for 28 days, but sadly, the voice calls and SMS benefits are limited between Mumbai and Delhi telecom circles only because MTNL has its operations in just two circles.

Diving into the details, the STV 171 gives 1.5GB data benefit per day and its 3G data only as MTNL is yet to launch 4G services. Post the 1.5GB daily data benefit, users will be charged at 3 paise per 10 KB of data consumption. Also, the free data usage benefit will be available in home and national roaming. The benefit of free calling & SMS will be available from the home network and from MTNL Delhi network only (if the customer is in Mumbai and vice versa). In other circles, standard roaming charges will be applicable. Thankfully, there's no limitation for voice calling though.

MTNL users in the two circles can recharge this new plan via E-recharge or online recharge and SMS recharge by sending SMS 'RCH ‹Denomination of pack›' to 444.

MTNL also has other plans of Rs 197, Rs 365 and Rs 421 which also provide daily data benefit, unlimited voice and 100 SMS per day for longer validity than the STV 171. The Rs 421 plan comes with a whopping 3GB data per day, unlimited voice and 100 SMS per day for 84 days. In other news, MTNL now has a new CMD- P K Purwar, under him, the telco is looking to introduce 4G services in the two circles where it has operations.
