Just a few weeks after the Nokia 5.1 unveiling, it's already said that HMD Global is working on the Nokia 5.1 Plus smartphone. Today, we have a new report revealing few more details on the so-called Nokia 5.1 Plus. As per a new report by nokiarevolution, the Nokia 5.1 Plus will be the same Nokia X6 smartphone for global markets, but it will be arriving with a MediaTek processor, instead of the Snapdragon processor. Going by the report, the 5.1 Plus will come powered by the MediaTek Helio P60 chipset and not the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, which is an interesting aspect. Also, the codename of this device is said to be 'Panda.'
Design wise, there will be some cosmetic changes between the Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia X6. For example, the notch will be a bit wider on the upcoming device when compared to the already existing handset. The 5.1 Plus will measure 149.5 x 71.9 x 8mm, but this report did not reveal the weight of the device.
Internally, the phone is said to get some massive changes, especially in terms of processor. The Nokia 5.1 Plus will have the MediaTek Helio P60 chipset and not the Snapdragon 636 processor. The Nokia X6 will be placed in between the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 7 Plus. It will be really interesting to see how HMD Global places the Nokia 5.1 Plus in its product portfolio. Of course, the Helio P60 is an upper mid-range chipset found on smartphones such as the Oppo F7 and the Realme 1. The price tag of the smartphone will be an interesting aspect as well. Earlier rumours hinted the device to have a MediaTek Helio P23 chipset, which would have made complete sense as HMD would have priced the device under Rs 15,000 price point. The Nokia 5.1 Plus is also rumoured to sport a 5.8-inch Full HD display. The chipset will work in tandem with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
On the whole, the Nokia 5.1 Plus seems to be real and with the renders spotted online, the launch date of the phone is around the corner.
