Motorola is announcing its powerful mid-range smartphone of 2018, the Moto Z3 Play on June 6 in Brazil. Ahead of the launch, renders of the Moto Z3 Play are leaked online yet again, revealing the design of the device. Like the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus, the Moto Z3 Play will also have an 18:9 display on the front and the screen size is said to be 6.2-inch. Like the last two generation of Moto Z devices, the back of the Z3 Play has the same Moto Mod magnetic pins, and it seems like the first generation Moto Mods will be supported too. The back of the phone seems to be made of glass since the Moto G6 Plus also has the same glass sandwich design. Also, the flagship Moto Z3 is also expected to have the same glass back with metal frame.
Here comes the interesting design choice from Motorola. Going by these renders, the fingerprint scanner on the Moto Z3 Play will be placed inside the power button on the right side. Also, the surface area of the scanner/power button is much larger than usual, which is understandable. In the past, manufacturers like Sony went with a side-mounted biometric scanner design and was often criticised for the design choice. Also, there's another button on the left side, which could be used to interact with Google Assistant or maybe the fingerprint scanner on the right side will not house the power button and the same is moved to the left side, but the former option seems to be a perfect one.
The Moto Z3 Play sports dual cameras at the back- the first smartphone to do so in the Moto Z Play lineup. The camera configuration is unknown at the moment.
Hardware wise, the Z3 Play could come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC under the hood, and it will surely be priced over Rs 25,000, thanks to the Moto Mods presence. In other news, Motorola is launching the Moto G6 and G6 Play smartphones in India on June 4 exclusively on Flipkart and Amazon.
