Samsung Galaxy J6 With Infinity Display Launching in India on May 21

Samsung sent out media invites for an event to be held in India on May 21, but the company did not disclose which smartphones it’s going to introduce in India at the event. Rumours were rife that the South Korean company would launch two Galaxy J models and two Galaxy A models in the sub-continent during the event. Samsung has now officially confirmed on Twitter that it’s going to unveil the Galaxy J6 mid-range smartphone in India on May 21 and it will be available for purchase the immediate next day, which is May 22. Samsung India official Twitter account tweeted this news stating that the device will have ‘state-of-the-art design.’

Samsung did not launch the Galaxy J6 earlier in any market, so it will be a Made for India smartphone Samsung promised to launch at the start of 2018. This smartphone will possibly take on the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 smartphones, but the leaked spec-sheet states that Samsung is looking to go with the same old Exynos 7870 SoC inside the smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 is rumoured to sport a 5.6-inch HD+ display carrying a resolution of 720 x 1480 pixels, but on the brighter side, the panel will be an AMOLED one, not the IPS LCD one. For the first time, Samsung is bringing its Infinity Display tech to the mid-range Galaxy J series. Earlier, the Infinity Display tech was limited to Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy Note and Galaxy A series of phones. It’s good to see Samsung making a move in the mid-range segment too.
