Lenovo has announced the Android 8.0 Oreo update rollout to its best smartphone available today, the Lenovo K8 Note. The company has confirmed the rollout on its website, stating that users will receive an OTA update automatically. If not, users can head over to the Settings app and check for the update manually. The Lenovo K8 Note was launched back in August 2017 with Android 7.0 Nougat on board, and this is the first major update for the smartphone, possibly the last one too. The Android 8.0 Oreo update brings several new features to the smartphone, including the Android Oreo ones introduced by Google.
The update brings all the Android Oreo features such as new notification panel, notification dots, revamped Settings app and so on. But Lenovo did not mention the Project Treble support in the changelog though. The PiP also made its way to the smartphone. The update includes the Android security patches until February 5, 2018.
Furthermore, Lenovo states that it introduced various changes that improve the temperature and consumption performance. In addition, the OTA update brings network and call improvements and various stability fixes too.
The update is already reaching users, and several people who updated the device are complaining about the slow charging speeds. So basically the update has some issues related to Turbo Charging, but Lenovo is yet to accept the issue officially. Right now, Lenovo Forums is filled with the same slow charging speed issue as more number of K8 Note users are joining the discussion with every passing day.
With the K8 lineup of devices, Lenovo ditched its Vibe UI and offered pure Stock Android, same as Motorola phones. This move allowed the company to push the Oreo update to the K8 Note. The Lenovo K8 family has three devices- the K8 Note, Lenovo K8 and the Lenovo K8 Plus. But it's unknown when the other two devices will get the Oreo update, but it might not take much longer. Lenovo' subsidiary, Motorola is yet to release Oreo update to the Moto G5 devices, so Lenovo has done a good job in rolling out the update to the K8 Note.
