Xiaomi is yet to major flagship smartphone this year, and as everyone expected, it will be the Xiaomi Mi 7- the successor to the Xiaomi Mi 6. While Xiaomi is silent on when the device's going to be launched, leaks and rumours kept on floating on the web. Today, a couple of display panel images of the Mi 7 have leaked online reaffirming the notch presence on the smartphone. Since the start of 2018, it has been rumoured that Xiaomi will join the notch bus with the bus and these images further confirm the same. Also, a leaked poster of the Mi 7 suggest the May 23 launch but take that leak with a pinch of salt because Xiaomi is still said to be finalising the hardware of the smartphone. In the past, the firmware data file leak of the Mi 7 confirmed that the device would come with a cut-out on top of the display and these images confirm the presence of notch on the smartphone. As you can see in the images, there are two display panels, which could be of the Xiaomi Mi 7 and the Mi 7 Plus.

Yes, like it happened the entire last year of Xiaomi launching a Mi 6 Plus smartphone, it's happening this year too. Xiaomi is claimed to launch a Plus variant of the Mi 7 this year as well, but these could just end up as rumours like last year. The Mi 7 and the Mi 7 Plus will be distinguished with their screen sizes, if it ever happens, like how Samsung distinguishes the Galaxy S9 and S9+.

The disappointing part, however, is the presence of the chin on the smartphone. Apple chose the notch design for the iPhone X because it removed the entire chin on the device, but that's not the case with Android manufacturers as even with the notch display usage, they are not able to remove the chin.

It is also said that the delay in the launch of Mi 7 is because of Xiaomi looking for advanced 3D face recognition hardware. Also, the integration of in-display fingerprint scanner is claimed to be consuming sometime.

The Xiaomi Mi 7, being a flagship device will arrive with top-of-the-line hardware. The phone is expected to have a dual camera setup at the back, followed by a single front-facing camera along with advanced face recognition technology. Also, as you can see from the images, the display notch is as bigger as the one seen on the iPhone X, which further confirms the presence of some additional sensors required for the 3D Face Recognition.

The Mi 7 will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, up to 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage and a bigger battery is also expected to back the entire package.
