Last week, OnePlus hosted its Open Ears Forum on OxygenOS in North America with its community members. During the event, OnePlus interacted with various users to take feedback on the OxygenOS and the features to be added in the future to offer the best experience to the users. The company has now published the features to be added to the OxygenOS in the future. OnePlus has confirmed that it will be added accent colour customisation, tweak the OxygenOS interface, and several new features. Most probably, these features will be introduced with the upcoming OnePlus 6 smartphone.
OnePlus has confirmed that it will be adding the accent colour customisation, meaning users can choose their own system-wide colour scheme. OnePlus currently allows only a few inbuilt colour accents to change. The company is also looking to add a new mechanism allowing users to choose between the ring, vibrate and silent modes using the Alert slider.
Furthermore, the company has stated its plans for including a new stay awake feature, which allows a user to keep the device awake for a certain period of time. Of course, you might say that 'isn't the screen-out time functions the same?' It is, but with this feature, you can keep the device awake even when with your screen-out time is set to 30 seconds or one minute. OnePlus might be adding a quick toggle to turn on the stay awake feature and might allow users to choose the time to keep the device awake.
Also, the company has promised to fix the 'oil painting' camera issue, which is experienced by many OnePlus users out there. OnePlus will also be fully working on the GDPR privacy policy, which will come into play post-May 25.
The Chinese company further confirmed that the OnePlus 5 and 5T would receive the Android 8.1 Oreo update very soon, while the OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive it in mid-2018.
The upcoming Oneplus 6 is expected to come out with the Android 8.1 Oreo update itself, and it will be so disappointing if the company releases it with Android 8.0 Oreo. Notably, the 8.1 Oreo update could well be the final major update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T because OnePlus has already confirmed that they won't receive the much-anticipated Andriod P update.
All these features will be rolled out the OnePlus older devices, but the OnePlus 6 will come with some additional features to take full advantage of the new screen. OnePlus confirmed that it would be allowing users to hide the notch on the OnePlus 6, similar to the feature added by Huawei to the P20 and P20 Pro smartphones.
