South Korean smartphone giant, as it said earlier has today unveiled a new version of the LG V30, dubbed as LG V30S ThinQ. LG stated that it's the first device under the ThinQ lineup, so expect LG to launch more smartphones in the future. And the ThinQ lineup comes integrated with new AI technologies in the camera application and in LG' software too. The V30S ThinQ comes with two new features- Vision AI and Voice AI. While the former comes in the camera application, the latter adds new commands to the Google Assistant. LG did not reveal the pricing of the smartphone, but the pricing will be out after LG's press conference later today.
LG Vision AI
As stated, LG's Vision AI is integrated into the default camera application in the form of three camera features: AI Cam, QLens and Bright Mode. The AI Cam feature analyses subjects in the frame and recommends the optimal shooting mode among eight categories: portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset. LG says that each mode enhances the characteristics of the subject taking into account factors such as the viewing angle, colour, reflections, lighting, and saturation level.
QLens is a new technology developed by LG to scan QR codes to improve the online shopping experience. Scanning an item of interest with QLens will give you the information as to where to buy the product online at the lowest price as well as recommendations for similar items.
And lastly, LG has added a new low-light mode dubbed as Bright Mode. LG says that this mode uses algorithms to brighten images by a factor of two for better-looking photos without noise.
LG Voice AI
Next Artificial Intelligence-based feature added by LG is Voice AI, which allows users to run apps and change settings through voice commands alone. And the best part is the feature works alongside Google Assistant. A total of 50 commands will be available in the ThinQ smartphone, out of which, 34 commands are LG exclusive ones.
LG V30S ThinQ Features and Specifications
Rest of the specifications are pretty much similar to the LG V30. It still has the same 6-inch Quad HD+ OLED display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels and 538 PPI. Internally, it's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM. The V30S ThinQ comes in two variants- a standard V30S ThinQ with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and a V30S+ ThinQ with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The storage can also be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card.
The LG V30S ThinQ is also certified by MIL-STD 810G and offers dual camera setup at the back. A 16MP primary sensor is paired to a secondary 13MP wide-angle sensor. Sadly, this phone doesn't offer a Portrait mode. The device measures 158grams and runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It is backed by a 3300mAh battery. The V30S ThinQ comes in two more colour options: Moroccan Blue and Platinum Gray.
As of now, it's unknown whether the new phone will make it to the Indian market or not.
