Upgraded and Smarter LG V30 Confirmed to Make an Appearance at the MWC 2018

Like every year, LG will make an appearance at the MWC 2018 event later this month. However, don't expect any major announcement from the South Korean brand as the company has just said it would be launching an upgraded LG V30 model at the mega event. At the ongoing LG Innofest event in Cape Town, CY Kim, managing director for LG Electronics, South Africa confirmed this news to the media. But he did not reveal what features will the upgraded model packs.

As always, rumours have already stated the same a couple of weeks back. The upgraded V30 will retain the same hardware as the V30 (2017), but it will be much smarter, thanks to the Artificial Intelligence. It is rumoured that LG is working closely with search giant Google for the AI features that are expected to come along with the upcoming V30 model. Also, we're hoping more Google Assistant features to be unveiled at the MWC 2018, and the V30 (2018) could be the first phone to pack them.

Nevertheless, these are just rumours, so take this with a pinch of salt. As for the specs of the LG V30, it packs a 6-inch pOLED QHD+ display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. Yes, it will still have the Snapdragon 835 SoC itself as the LG G7 will be LG's first model with Snapdragon 845 SoC. The RAM may get a bump to 6GB along with a new 256GB of internal storage model. The rear dual camera setup, 3300mAh battery will remain the same. The device might arrive with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box along with an upgraded selfie camera.

But this is a terrible idea from LG as the company is also rumoured to launch the LG G7 in March or April. A real question now arises: Will anyone purchase the V30 (2018)? Probably No, because LG will offer all the rumoured AI features with the G7 as well. But in some markets such as South Korea, the V30 (2018) might make sense, but not for markets such as India and the US.

Rumour mill also says that LG will launch the G7 sometime in March or April in a special event. And CY Kim reportedly confirmed the same saying that the true 2018 flagship from LG would be "little bit late." We're expecting the G7 to hit shores in April 2018. The rumoured specifications of the LG G7 include Snapdragon 845 SoC, front and rear dual camera setup, IRIS scanner on the front, and special AI features.
