Asus is following the footsteps of Apple and is reportedly implementing the infamous notch on one of its upcoming Zenfone 5 smartphones. Yes, you heard it right; A leaked image of Asus Zenfone 5 shows the phone in full glory, and previous rumours are correct as the notch is present on the top of the display. However, the notch is not as bigger as the one present on the iPhone X, because the latter packs all that Face Recognition hardware inside the big notch itself. But the notch on the Zenfone 5 will carry the earpiece and front-facing camera module.

In today's leak, only the front part of the phone is leaked, but in the past, renders of the Zenfone 5 were leaked, which revealed the rear design of the phone too. The Asus Zenfone 5, like the Zenfone 4 series is expected to come with glass back and the rear design will also be pretty much similar to that of the iPhone X.

At the back, there will be two vertically positioned rear cameras, followed an LED flash. And the fingerprint scanner is present at the rear too along with Asus branding. To the bottom of the phone, a single speaker grille, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack. So Asus is not yet ready to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack like Apple.

Asus has already sent out media invites confirming its presence at the Mobile World Congress event. And the Zenfone 5 along with a selfie-centric Zenfone 5 Lite and Zenfone 5 Max smartphones are expected to be unveiled at the event.

The Zenfone 5, according to other leaks will be powered by the Snapdragon 636 chipset, along with up to 6GB of RAM. There might be another variant of the Zenfone 5 with Snapdragon 670 SoC, which will also be unveiled at the MWC 2018 event by Qualcomm. However, Asus is not launching any Snapdragon 845 SoC powered flagship smartphone at the event. A flagship smartphone, dubbed as Zenfone 5z will be launched in June this year.
