Xiaomi has rolled out the latest MIUI 9.2 update to its yesteryear smartphones Redmi 1S, Redmi 2/Prime and Redmi Note/Prime which made their way to the market in 2014 and 2015 respectively. With the rollout of this final update, Xiaomi has made it clear that these devices won’t be getting any updates further. MIUI 9.2 update for these smartphones will be based on older Android KitKat instead of Android Oreo which is certainly disappointing to the users.
The Redmi 1S, Redmi 2/Prime, and Redmi Note/ Prime were all running on MIUI 8.5 which was released by Xiaomi six months earlier than MIUI 9 announcement. The new update will bring a totally revamped user interface along with some new features which include App Vault, a new Gallery App, Calendar Cards, Mi Video App and a redesigned Mi Explorer.
After the update, The Redmi 1S will be updated to MIUI 9.2.2.0.KHCMIEK, Redmi Note to MIUI 9.2.2.0.KHIMIEK while on the Redmi Note Prime it will be MIUI 9.2.3.0.KHKMIEK. The size of the update will be around 150MB to 200MB and won’t update the security patch.
Xiaomi says that MIUI 9.2 update is being rolled out to these devices in phases and all the users will receive the update by the end of this week. If you are a Redmi 1S user don’t want to wait for the OTA then you can head over to this link and manually flash the update file and enjoy the lasts flavour of MIUI 9.2 on your phone.
