Taiwanese smartphone brand HTC is all set to unveil its first smartphone in 2018. The company will be kicking off the year with a mid-range device named HTC U11 EYEs with codename Harmony. HTC has set the launch for January 15, but ahead of the official launch, complete specifications of the EYEs have leaked online, courtesy of the tipster Evan Blass. At this point, we have no info on when or whether HTC launches the smartphone in the Indian market.

Talking about the specifications and images posted online, the HTC EYEs will feature a similar design as the company's flagship product, HTC U11+, which never made into the Indian market. Firstly, the smartphone will be released in three colour options- black, silver, and red.

The device flaunts a 6-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. The panel is expected to be a Super LCD3 one and not a Super AMOLED display. At the heart of the phone, there will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset, which might sound weird, but that's what HTC will be using on the EYEs as per the report.

The Snapdragon 652 SoC is a two-year-old chipset and is one of the best mid-range chipsets from Qualcomm yet. The chipset will be mated to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and confirmed to come with a microSD card slot for storage expansion. Also, the smartphone will boot Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, which is underwhelming.

Sadly, Blass did not reveal the camera configuration of the smartphone. But as per the renders, the phone has a single camera at the back and dual front-facing cameras which may justify the smartphone's name- EYE. The fingerprint scanner is present below the rear camera module, same as the HTC U11+. Lastly, the device will be backed by a 3930mAh battery.

HTC is rumoured to add other features such as the IP67 water and dust resistant rating and Edge Sense. The phone will have a USB Type-C port at the bottom. Overall, the rumoured specifications of the EYEs smartphone are decent, but the Snapdragon 652 SoC usage is something seems to be out of sorts. Hopefully, the phone comes with at least Snapdragon 660 SoC when it goes official.
