After offering a discount of Rs 2,000 on the Flipkart's Big Shopping Days, Xiaomi has now permanently slashed the price of its budget smartphone, the Mi A1. The Xiaomi Mi A1, which was initially released for Rs 14,999 will be now available for Rs 13,999 in the country. The new price is already reflected in Flipkart, Mi.com, Mi Homes, and other stores where the product is available.
The price drop comes after the Honor 7X launch in India. Huawei' sub-brand Honor recently launched its latest budget smartphone, the Honor 7X in the Indian market for Rs 12,999 for the base 4GB RAM+32GB storage variant and Rs 15,999 for the 4GB RAM+64GB storage model. Also, in the first sale on Amazon India a couple of days ago, the Honor 7X sold out in minutes. That said, the Mi A1 is still a better proportion than the Honor 7X, but it doesn't offer an 18:9 display, which is a huge setback.

The Mi A1 was launched in India in September 2017 and became our de-facto suggestion for people looking for a smartphone under Rs 20,000. The Mi A1 brings flagship dual camera setup to a mid-range price point. It sports two 12MP sensors at the back- a primary 12MP RGB sensor and a secondary 12MP sensor with a telephoto lens offering 2X Optical Zoom.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 sports a 5.5-inch Ful HD display with a resolution of 1080 * 1920 pixels resolution. At the heart of the phone, the Mi A1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There's a hybrid microSD card slot for storage expansion.
The smartphone is currently on Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box and is slated to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update by the end of 2017. The phone is backed by a 3080mAh battery with no quick charge support.
