To recall, the Galaxy S7 was launched in India at Rs. 48,900 in March 2016, and the OnePlus 3T was launched for Rs. 29,999. Both the devices were selling at almost the same prices until this sale.
That said if you're looking for a compelling smartphone under Rs. 30,000, you could either choose the Galaxy S7 and OnePlus 3T. But which one you should go for? Let's find out.
Samsung Galaxy S7
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is the company's flagship smartphone of 2016 and features high-end hardware. The smartphone features a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels.
In terms of hardware, the Indian variant of the Galaxy S7 is powered by the octa-core Exynos 8890 chipset, which works in tandem with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 200GB with a microSD card.
Camera wise, the Galaxy S7 features a 12MP primary camera with LED Flash and Smart OIS. The device has a 5MP front-facing camera. Other features of the smartphone include IP68 rating, wireless charging. And the device is currently running Android 7.0 Nougat. This entire package is backed by a 3000mAh battery with fast charging support.
OnePlus 3T
The OnePlus 3T still has the compelling hardware for Rs. 24,999. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display and is powered by the slightly powerful Snapdragon 821 SoC, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. Sadly, the storage is not expandable.
Camera wise, the OnePlus 3T has a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and OIS support. OnePlus has added a 16MP front-facing camera on the OnePlus 3T. The device is running Android 7.0 Nougat with OxygenOS 4.0 on top. The OnePlus 3T is already confirmed to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update, but sadly, it would be the last update for the device.
Lastly, the smartphone is backed by a 3400mAh battery, which is backed by the OnePlus Dash Charging technology. OnePlus' Dash Charge technology is still the fastest charging technology in the market.
Which one to choose?
So, after going through the spec-sheet, we can clearly see that the smartphones don't differ much in terms of hardware. The OnePlus 3T is slightly powerful with Snapdragon 821 SoC, and additional 2gigs of RAM, double storage. But the Galaxy S7 excel in other departments such as camera, water and dust resistant properties, wireless charging, and QHD display.
The OnePlus 3T's camera is not a bad one at all, but it doesn't come close to the Galaxy S7's camera by any means. Also, the OnePlus 3T doesn't have support for wireless charging, IP68 certification, and a QHD display.
That said, the Galaxy S7 wins the race when it comes to camera and other special features, while the OnePlus 3T is a powerful smartphone with a better processor and extra RAM, storage. Also, the OnePlus 3T has a bigger battery and of course, the unmatchable Dash Charge technology.
So, if you can afford the Galaxy S7 at Rs. 29,990, we suggest you go with it, only if your priority is the camera and a compact smartphone. Otherwise, the OnePlus 3T will serve you better.
