Gionee has just launched the Gionee A1 Plus (first impressions) smartphone in India. Priced at Rs. 26,999, the A1 Plus caters to the upper mid-range segment and battles with smartphones such as Moto Z2 Play, OnePlus 3T, Oppo F3 Plus, and Vivo V5 Plus. Gionee has a strong offline presence in India, and the A1 Plus will be available across major offline stores starting from July 26.

Gionee has been teasing the smartphone for quite some time now and even scheduled the launch of the phone for July 14, but postponed due to some unknown reasons. The highlight of the A1 Plus is the dual camera setup, stereo speakers, and massive battery.

Diving into the specifications of the phone, the Gionee A1 Plus comes with a 6-inch Full HD display. However, Gionee has used an IPS LCD panel in the A1 Plus, rather than an AMOLED panel used on the Gionee A1. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass technology and has a 2.5D curved glass on top.

At the heart of the phone is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 chipset, clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phone also supports microSD cards up to 256GB. The device has a fingerprint sensor embedded into its home button, placed below the display.

As said earlier, the highlight of the A1 Plus is the dual rear camera of 13MP and 5MP. The 13MP sensor captures RGB shots, while the 5MP one captures additional depth in the images. Besides the dual rear camera, the Gionee A1 Plus also comes with a strong 20MP front-facing camera, as seen in other Gionee smartphones in recent times.

Connectivity options in the smartphone include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB port. Yes, the A1 Plus has a micro USB port in the age of USB Type-C smartphones. The A1 Plus comes laden with Android 7.0 Nougat with Amigo UI 4.0 on top.

Another highlight of the Gionee A1 Plus is the massive 4550mAh battery, which also comes with fast charging support. Gionee claims that the bundled charger will completely charge the smartphone in just 90 minutes. Due to the massive battery, the smartphone feels heavy in hand at 226 grams. The A1 Plus has a thickness of 9.1mm.

Gionee has added dual stereo speakers as well in the A1 Plus, which is also a USP of the phone. With its large display, the A1 Plus is also a rival to the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, which was launched a few days ago. Would you like to see a comparison article on Gionee A1 Plus and Mi Max 2?
