New Leak Sheds Light On The Brand New Nokia 8

The HMD Global – owned Nokia got back into the race with a brand new line of Android smartphones unveiled back in February this year. Despite a lacklustre start with its mid-range and budget phones, Nokia could still have a hope of rising to its glory with the unveiling of the Nokia 8. If the rumours are any true, the Nokia 8 will be the first Nokia flagship to come out in years and will most probably end up being a high-end smartphone.

A tweet by the trusted leakster Evan Blass yesterday showed an image of the upcoming handset and it looks ready to give a good competition to the big boys. At first glance, it becomes quite obvious that design of the smartphone is classic Nokia with its simple, albeit boxy, front and curved edges. The Nokia 8 is expected to come in Blue, Steel Gold, Gold/blue, and Gold/copper colours and its back has the same aluminium unibody design found in Nokia’s mid-range devices.

Under the hood is where things get interesting. The leaks so far suggest a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, usually seen in high-end devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8. Accompanying the processor is 4GB of RAM, however, there have been rumours flying around that the phone might come as a 6GB variant as well. The alleged 13MP dual rear sensors of the Nokia 8 will be taken care of by Zeiss Optics.

As for the rest of its specs, Nokia 8 might sport a 5.3-inch Quad-HD (2160 x 1440 pixels) display. It is worth noting that the device seems to come with thick bezels surrounding the display, which is rapidly going out of style in the face of the latest bezel-less trend in smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6, and the next iPhone.

The latest leak also hints at the cost of the device placed around a price point of USD 675 (approximately Rs. 43,434), based on its listing on a Scandinavian website. Although nothing is officially confirmed yet, the Nokia 8 is expected to grace the markets on July 31, 2017, but it is unclear when the phone will be launched in India.

With its suitably high-end specs and running on near stock version of the Android Nougat 7.0, it will be interesting to see how the Nokia 8 will fare against the major players in the market.
