After having launched the Redmi Note 4 recently, Xiaomi is now allegedly setting the stage to expand its highest-selling Redmi lineup with the new Redmi Note 5. As a reminder, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer had unveiled the Redmi Note 4 earlier this year in India and crossed major milestones by becoming the highest selling smartphone in the country just within a few weeks.
Coming back to the Redmi Note 5, although not much is known about the device, several specs have surfaced online over the past few days, giving all Xiaomi fans just what they need.
To make it simpler for you to keep track of all the rumours leading up to this point, we have compiled a list of all the specs we can expect to see in the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. However, you should note that all the specifications listed are either rumours or leaks and should be duly taken with a grain of salt.
Display
In the display department, the upcoming Redmi Note 5 could employ same, if not similar, specifications as that of the Redmi Note 4 – a 5.5-inch Full-HD (1080p) IPS display, with 401 pixels packed within every inch of the screen. On a good note, the display is expected to offer better visibility under direct sunlight and might be a tad bit brighter.
Software
As we had previously reported, the Redmi Note 5 is rumoured to run the MIUI 9 skin on top of Android Nougat 7.1 operating system. Incidentally, the MIUI 9 hasn’t been announced yet but it is likely that it will debut in the Redmi Note 5 smartphone. On the storage front, the handset will probably arrive in two options for you to choose from – 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage.
Camera
For its part, the photography segment of the Redmi Note 5 consists of a 16MP Sony IMX 234 primary lens with f/2.0 aperture on its rear panel and a 13MP secondary camera on the front.
Battery
The device is rumoured to come with a self-sufficient 3,790mAh battery packed inside, which is slightly less than that of the Redmi Note 4. The fact that it is compatible with Quick Charge 4.0 perfectly complements those who use their phones for long periods of time without the hassle of frequent and long charging.
Hardware
As for the device’s raw power, the Redmi Note 5 could come with a Snapdragon 630 SoC or a Snapdragon 660 SoC. The chances of the phone housing either one of these chipsets are still unknown and are up for speculation. However, if the Redmi Note 5 is powered by Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 630 processor, it might very well turn out to be a mid-range smartphone. Going by this alone, we can safely assume that the handset will also include features such as Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.1, and NFC.
Price
Talking about mid-range smartphones, the much talked about Redmi Note 5 is expected to cost around USD 200 (approximately Rs. 12,970) for the base model. A larger storage variant of the smartphone may come at a higher price, though. Having said all that, the legitimacy of these reports cannot be confirmed. Yet.
