Xiaomi has launched just two new smartphones this year- the Xiaomi Mi 6 and the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 in China. Usually, the company launches only a few devices in the first half of the year, keeping all the devices due for second half of the year. The trend is continuing this year as well as Xiaomi is saving budget smartphones such as Xiaomi Mi 6c, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, etc.

Another smartphone in the pipeline would be the newly spotted Xiaomi 'riva,' which is an entry-level smartphone with basic specifications. The Xiaomi riva is spotted in Geekbench and achieved a single core score of 560 and multi-core score of 916. The scores are not so impressive, so does the specifications in the listing.

The Xiaomi riva will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm processor, likely to be the Snapdragon 425 or 427 SoC. The chipset is accompanied by 3GB of RAM, and the device is running Android 7.1.2 Nougat, which is an unusual sign as most of the Xiaomi smartphones are running MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow.

Well, the Xiaomi riva could be the successor to last year's Xiaomi Redmi 4A. Besides the processor and amount of RAM used, there are not many details known about the phone for now. Having said that, Xiaomi might release the smartphone sometime in September this year along with other budget Redmi smartphones.

For now, Xiaomi is said to launch the Mi 6c smartphone in China with Snapdragon 660 SoC and 6GB of RAM. The Mi 6c is codenamed as Xiaomi Jason. Besides the budget phones, the Apple of China will unveil few more flagship phones- Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Xiaomi Mi Note 2, and a bigger variant of the Xiaomi Mi 6- the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus.

For India though, Xiaomi is likely to launch the Mi Max 2 this month and might be up for sale on July 23, because the company has sold all its smartphones released this year in India sold on 23 of every alternate month.
