Samsung is testing the Android 7.0 Nougat update for its upper mid-range Galaxy A9 Pro smartphone. The A9 Pro running Android Nougat is spotted on two popular benchmark sites- Geekbench and GFXBench. This apparently mean that the update will be rolled out to the public in coming days.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro with model number- SM-A910F is spotted on the benchmark sites. Currently, there's no update from Samsung about the possible release date of the OS upgrade. Samsung launched the A9 Pro smartphone in September 2016 in India with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on board.
Nevertheless, it's a bit disappointing that Samsung is testing the Android 7.0 Nougat and not the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Also, the update might include the June security patch fixes. Besides the regular Google additions in the Nougat upgrade, Samsung will add few more new features.
All the vanilla Android Nougat features such as Quick App Switcher, Quick Reply, Advanced Doze Mode, and new system animations will come to the Galaxy A9 Pro. Samsung will further tweak the Always-On display, add new power saving modes, and the update may also include the new launcher found the Galaxy S8 and S8+.
The A9 Pro is a decent smartphone in the upper mid-range segment, which is mainly known for the incredible battery life it offers. The smartphone flaunts a 6-inch Full HD AMOLED display and is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC, teamed with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The inbuilt storage is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card.
The handset rocks a 16MP rear camera with LED flash along with an 8MP front-facing camera, which doesn't have support for LED flash. As said earlier, the USP of the phone is the massive 5000mAh battery, which is rated to last for two days on a single charge. However, the hefty battery increased the weight of the smartphone to 210 grams. With a 6-inch display and 210 grams weight, the Galaxy A9 Pro is not an ideal option for a first time smartphone buyer.
Samsung launched the phone for Rs. 32,900, but recently slashed the price by Rs. 3,000 and the phone is now selling for Rs. 29,900 in all the offline stores and online stores in India.
