As speculated, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched a new phone in India- the Honor 8 Lite. As the name itself suggests, the device is a smaller variant of the popular Honor 8, which has a dual camera at the back. The Honor 8 Lite, however, lacks the dual camera but features the same design as its bigger sibling.
The smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and 2.5D curved glass on top. Under the hood, there’s a 64-bit 2.1GHz octa-core Hi-Silicon Kirin 655 chipset, accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This is the same chipset seen on the Honor 6X which is priced at Rs. 12,999.
If you feel that the onboard storage is not good enough for your requirements, you can always expand the storage up to 128GB with the help of a microSD card. That said, you can either use a microSD card or a secondary SIM card as Huawei has gone with a hybrid card slot.
The phone rocks a 12MP rear camera with PDAF and a LED flash. At the front, there’s an 8MP front-facing camera that can capture wide-angle shots. Both the cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos, and the camera app has professional mode as well.
The Honor 8 Lite has connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and Micro-USB port. According to the company, the Honor 8 Lite is the first device in India to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat based EMUI 5.0 out-of-the-box.
The device is armed with a 3000mAh battery, which is rated to deliver one complete day of battery life on a single charge. Also, Huawei has added some battery tweaks in the EMUI 5.0 to further increase the battery life.
You might be wondering why the Honor 8 Lite is priced at Rs. 17,999, even though boasting the same chipset as the mid-range Honor 6X. Well, the Honor 8 Lite will be sold across all the offline channels in the country. The device will be available for purchase starting May 12.
