MTNL Announces Two New Broadband Plans at Rs. 299 and Rs. 399 with 4 Mbps Download Speeds in Mumbai

State-run telecom service provider, Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited (MTNL) has announced two new promotional broadband plans of Rs. 299 and Rs. 399 for the residents of Mumbai. Both the schemes offer almost similar benefits, but the Rs. 299 plan doesn't offer any free voice calling with it.

As the plans are offered on a promotional basis, they will be valid only for 90 days. After the 90-day period, the company will either remove the plans or modify them as per the market scenario. Under the new Rs. 299 broadband plan, MTNL is offering download speed of 4 Mbps up to 10GB and 2 Mbps beyond the 10GB usage. The Rs. 399 scheme also offer the same perks of 4 Mbps speeds up to 10GB and 2 Mbps till 15GB.

Post the 15GB data, the download speed in both the plan will be reduced to 1 Mbps. Also, do make a note that both these plans are valid only for new broadband customers looking to join under the MTNL broadband. Under the Rs. 299 broadband plan, users can choose their landline calling plan. However, under the Rs. 399 plan, users don't have the option to choose a calling plan, and all the users will be charged pulse charges of Rs. 1 per minute.

Another state-run telecom operator, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) also offering a similar broadband plan of Rs. 249, but with limited benefits. BSNL is providing unlimited calls and 10GB data per day with the download speed of 2 Mbps. Post the FUP; speed will be reduced to 1 Mbps. Also, the calls are limited to only 9 PM to 7 AM. All the calls on Sunday will be free.

Aforesaid, the MTNL plan is valid only for the residents of Mumbai and all the new users can start enrolling under the scheme effective from April 15.
