We’re already into the second quarter of 2017 when companies such as the Motorola, HTC, and OnePlus unveil their flagship phones. After receiving a tremendous reception for its OnePlus 3 and 3T last year, OnePlus will be under pressure to retain the same hype with its 2017 flagship phone.
Yesterday, a smartphone with model number A5000 had been spotted on the Chinese State Radio Regulation Committee (SRRC), which means that the 2017 OnePlus phone will be called as OnePlus 5 and not OnePlus 4, supporting the earlier rumours. The OnePlus 3 which released a year ago came out with A3000 model number, whereas the 3T came out with A3010, which made us believe that the upcoming flagship will be OnePlus 5 and the company is going to skip the OnePlus 4.
Just after the phone was spotted in Chinese regulatory site, a new image of the upcoming phone’s case has surfaced online, which allegedly shows the presence of a dual camera at the rear. Till date, we don’t have any leaks regarding the OnePlus 5’s design, so take this one with a grain of salt.
Almost all the smartphone brands in recent times are using dual camera module on their phones. So, it’s not entirely surprising to see OnePlus doing the same with the OnePlus 5. Earlier speculations also suggested the same, but there are no details on OnePlus’s implementation, though.
Speculations are rife that the OnePlus 5 will come with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The OnePlus 5 is expected to be the second smartphone to boast 8GB of RAM and this time around OnePlus is looking at 256GB storage variant as well, alongside the 64GB and 128GB options.
There are no details regarding the battery capacity of the phone, but OnePlus should look at something around 4000mAh battery as they will surely use the high clocked version of Snapdragon 835, which will have a direct impact on the battery life of the phone. OnePlus 5 will run OxygenOS based on Android Nougat itself.
It may be announced in June as per the OnePlus launch schedule over the years. The phone is rumoured to be priced just under $500 mark (approx. Rs. 32,200) for the 64GB storage variant. What all features you’re looking at in the OnePlus 5? Let us know in the comments section below.
