Homegrown smartphone brand, Micromax has launched two new smartphones, the Micromax Evok Note and Evok Power to further strengthen its position in the Indian market. Recently, Micromax announced the Dual 5 smartphone, but it was placed in the upper mid-range segment, but today's phones will mainly focus on the company's entry-level and budget departments.
The Micromax Evok Note is the bigger variant of the both and features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, with a 2.5D curved glass carrying a pixel density of 401 PPI. At the heart of the phone is a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 SoC, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The storage can be expandable via a microSD card.
Camera wise, the Evok Note comes with a 13MP rear camera with 5P lens, autofocus, and LED flash. Frontal, Micromax has added a 5MP sensor. The phone comes with private security application called 'Secure Space' that allows users to secure their phone by locking each application and can unlock them with the help of fingerprint sensor.
The smartphone has a 4000mAh battery and boots Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box. It has connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
On the other hand, Micromax has launched the Micromax Evok Power at Rs. 6,999. The phone flaunts a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The chipset in the phone is accompanied with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage (expandable via microSD card).
The Evok Power features an 8MP rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash, whereas a 5MP camera can be seen on the front with no support for the flashlight. The Evok Power is a 4G enabled phone that also has support for VoLTE. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB OTG.
The interesting feature with the Evok Power is it comes with support for a fingerprint scanner. The phone boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow and has a beefy 4000mAh battery. For selling both the Micromax Evok Note and Evok Power, the company has partnered with Flipkart and will be available starting tonight.
Going by the specifications of both the phones, it looks like they can overtake the rival phones from Xiaomi, Lenovo, Coolpad, etc. For example, the Evok Power is priced at Rs. 6,999 and will go head-on-head with the Xiaomi Redmi 3s and has an advantage in the form of the fingerprint sensor.
