Smartphones were never perfect. If a smartphone is right for the camera, then it was a letdown with its battery life or other aspect and vice versa. Last year, we saw several smartphone vendors such as Gionee, Asus, Xiaomi making their move towards delivering a phone with great battery life.

Gionee went with a formula of embedding big batteries on their phones, but that did not help, and the same methodology was followed by Asus and other brands as well. However, as the year passed on, the focus was shifted towards delivering a better camera phone.

But, chip maker Qualcomm had some other plans. At the start of 2016, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 625 chipset which is said to offer 40 percent more battery life than its predecessors. Qualcomm was not kidding, and the results were justified once after the chipset was used in some phones such as the Asus Zenfone 3 and Motorola Moto Z Play.

Both the smartphones reached Indian shores a couple of months ago and received substantial praise from the audience due to the battery life they offered. Major tech blogs rated the Moto Z Play as the best Android phone with battery. Though it featured just a 3510mAh battery, the results were amazing.

Clearly, the prowess for this is the Snapdragon 625 chipset. With the new year getting started and the festive season arriving, we might see several smartphones with Snapdragon 625 SoC under-the-hood. Hereby, we are compiling a list of upcoming smartphones in India that are said to feature or confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 625 chipset.

1) Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone vendor, had a great run last year in India and all the credit goes to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which is rated as the best budget smartphone of all time. Xiaomi already unveiled the Redmi Note 4 in China, but there the company used a MediaTek chipset. When coming to India, the firm is not licensed to sell MediaTek powered phones in the country.

With that being said, Xiaomi is said to go with the Snapdragon 625 chipset for the Indian variant of the phone. If the rumors are believed to be true, Xiaomi will launch the smartphone by the end of January in three variants with 2GB/3GB/4GB of RAM. Xiaomi also posted that they are looking for explorers for the phone and the program is called as ‘Mi Explorers.'

2) Lenovo P2

Lenovo unveiled the successor to the Lenovo Vibe P1, the Lenovo P2 last year. But, it was just last week, Lenovo India on their official Twitter handle teased the phone as coming soon to the country. The Lenovo P2 features the Snapdragon 625 chip along with 4GB of RAM. We are expecting the phone to be unveiled next week in India before the festive season. Aided to the chip is the 5100mAh battery to make it stand out from others in this list.

3) Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom

The Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom unveiled just a couple of days ago at the CES 2017, but it will be launched in India very soon. Last year, Asus launched the Zenfone Zoom in India on January 22, and we are expecting the same with Zenfone 3 Zoom as well. At the heart of the phone, we have the Snapdragon 625 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and massive 5000mAh battery to make it last longer than others. The phone might be unveiled at the end of January or early February.

4) Huawei Nova/ Nova Plus

While Huawei is preparing to launch their Honor 6X in India on January 24, we are expecting that there might be a twist at the event. The Chinese tech giant might unveil their Huawei Nova and Nova Plus at the same event as both the phones are powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC and 3GB of RAM.

That said, if you are looking for a smartphone that lasts longer, then we suggest you wait for another 15 days or a month for the above-mentioned phones to hit the Indian shores.
