The Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has launched Gionee S9 smartphone in China. Priced at CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs. 25,000), this smartphone boasts of a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels resolution) display with 2.5D curved glass.
Under the hood of Gionee S9, there is a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek (MT6755) Helio P10 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It packs a 64GB inbuilt memory, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. It runs Android Marshmallow OS with Amigo OS 3.5 on top.
In terms of camera, new Gionee S9 smartphone sports dual rear cameras, 13MP and 5MP cameras in the rear. The camera sensors are said to be from Sony and Samsung, respectively. S9 also packs a 13MP camera in the front. The smartphone has dual-tone LED flash, selfie flash, self-timer, beauty effects to enhance selfie images, etc.

In terms of connectivity, new Gionee S9 supports 4G VoLTE, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and Micro-USB. It has a fingerprint scanner in the rear. The smartphone also incorporates additional security features such as password and fingerprint protection for applications, documents, etc. This will allow the users to save private contacts, texts, call history, etc. separately under password/fingerprint protection. The phone is backed by a 3000mAh battery.
Gionee S9 smartphone measures 54.2x76.4x7.4mm and weighs around 168 grams. It will be available in Black, Gold, and Rose Gold color variants. The international availability of the smartphone is not known.
