To cope with the rising competition from across the competitors, the state-owned telecommunications service provider Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has announced 'Ek Pe Ek Free' data offer for their customers in Mumbai. This double data offer will provide the customers a 6GB extra data in addition to the normal 6GB on a top-up of Rs. 300. This means that the subscriber can grab a 12GB data for Rs. 300. This additional data of 6GB will get credited to the consumer’s account after successful recharge. On a quick note, this is one of cheapest data offering from the company.
Currently, GSM operators are offering similar kind of double data offer on top up pack. MTNL’s double data pack is a limited time offer and will be available only from 1 July – 31 July. Such lucrative plans can be more expected from MTNL in the upcoming days, as the service provider is on its path of planning for a revival from the current loss phase. It recently announced that the revival plan will be submitted to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) by August this year.
In the revival plan, MTNL has included suggestions for expansion of service network, ways to increase the Navratna firm's market share as well as cost optimization measures. There are also partnership plans with BSNL to provide equipment for its mobile services in Delhi and Mumbai circles as managed service provider on revenue sharing basis. The fixed service network expansion will be performed with the assistance from private players on revenue sharing basis.
