After the launch of 4G services in Varanasi in March, Norwegian telecom firm Telenor has launched its 4G services in Agra on the spectrum of 1800 Mhz, confirmed an executive from Telenor. The operator has announced a few data packs for the location. The data packs start at Rs. 11, with which a user can avail 100MB free 4G data & 4p/20KB.
There is also a Rs. 147 pack that offers 1GB free 4G data. Under this pack, all local calls will be charged at 1p/2seconds. The validity of Rs. 147 pack is 28 days. There is also a Rs. 247 pack that comes with 28 days validity. The pack offers 2GB of free 4G data and all local calls will be charged at 1p/2 seconds.
The customers can check if their device is capable for 4G by sending an SMS to 59799 with details like make, space, and model. The new customers can visit Telenor Store to grab a Telenor 4G SIM and set 4G/LTE as the network mode in the device’s settings. Dial to the toll-free number 1925 and select option 1 or simply type "START" and SMS it to 1925 to activate data service.
For existing customers, type 4G space SIM No. (of new 4G blank sim)and SMS it to the toll-free number 59111 from your existing SIM and mobile number. Once the current SIM gets disconnected, insert the new Telenor 4G SIM in your 4G handset's SIM slot. Change the settings to 4G on device.
In February 2016, Telenor had announced its plan to launch 4G services in 5-8 cities in India within 6 months. The provider was also in talks with other operators to increase its spectrum holding through trading. If to recap, Telenor CEO Sigve Brekke said at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that the company needs more spectrum to be able to push data growth. He said that there are two ways of doing that, either buy spectrum through trading or participate in auction.
Telenor has operations in six telecom circles and has over 4.7 crore customers.
