Telenor is in the race to add more subscribers, especially by focusing on 4G network. After the launch of narrow band 4G in Varanasi and Visakhapatnam, Telenor has started rolling out 4G services in Amravati in Maharashtra. Now, Maharashtra is the 3rd circle where Telenor launched narrow band 4G.

The narrow band 4G requires lesser spectrum and can offer HSPA-like constant speed. Telenor customers in Amravati city of Maharashtra can access the network using a 4G phone which supports band 3 of 1800 MHz LTE.

The tariffs of these 4G packs of Telenor are more attractive. To say, there is a Rs. 147 4G data pack that comes with 28 days of validity. In fact, the pack offers all local calls at 25p/m, all STD calls at 25p/m, alongside 1GB of free 4G data. The Rs. 247 pack too offers similar offers like that of Rs. 147 pack, but comes with 2GB of free 4G data. For those who still want a smaller denomination, Telenor has Rs. 12 data pack that provides one-day validity for 100MB free 4G data.

In terms of speeds, Telecom Talk has received responses from our readers who used the narrow band 4G network. According to them, they get an average of 2-3 Mbps data downloading speeds, which is similar to what other 3G networks are offering in the same area.

According to an employee of Telenor, the company is in the process to launch similar kind of 4G networks using few chunks of airwaves in other cities of Maharashtra, where the company has a good number of subscribers.

If Telenor launches 4G in a few other major cities in Maharashtra with this kind of tariffs, the company may witness a surge in the subscriber base and may also retain its existing customers, who are porting to other networks.

In April 2016, Telenor lost total 76,296 customers in Maharashtra. According to reports, the maximum of Telenor subscribers has ported to Idea's 4G network, which helped the them to get 70,699 new customers.
