Here are Microsoft’s latest flagships, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL

Microsoft finally took the wraps off its much-awaited and highly rumored Lumia smartphones, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. Both the smartphones run the latest Windows 10 Mobile OS. These devices also feature liquid-cooling technology that makes them ideal for handling high power processors, which means that both the phones won’t heat up after heavy usage.

Both the smartphones were unveiled at the Microsoft event today, by Microsoft’s head of premium devices engineering division, Panos Panay. The Lumia 950 has been priced at $549 while the Lumia 950 XL has been priced at $649, both the devices will go on sale in November. The company also announced another device, the Lumia 550, which will go on sale in December. Microsoft has bit revealed the specifications for the Lumia 550 yet.

In a bid to make the devices stand out from other flagships, Microsoft has equipped them with support for Windows Hello biometric system that unlocks the phone by scanning the user’s face. The company has also added the Continuum feature, which allows both the smartphones to connect to the computer and use its peripherals such as the mouse, keyboard, etc.

Now coming on to the specifications of the Lumia 950, the device comes with a 5.2-inch QHD OLED display with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels, and is powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. The phone runs Windows 10 Mobile OS, and sports a 20-megapixel PureView primary camera with OIS and RGB LED flash, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and USB Type-C. It is backed by a 3,000 mAh removable battery.

On the other hand, the Lumia 950 XL comes with a 5.7-inch QHD OLED display with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels, and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It features 32GB of expandable internal storage, and runs Windows 10 Mobile OS. The device sports a 20-megapixel PureView primary camera with OIS and RGB LED flash, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It supports connectivity features such as 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB Type-C, and is backed by a 3,300 mAh removable with Qi wireless charging support.
