The sub-Rs. 5,000 price segment in the smartphone market is catching pace at a pretty brisk pace, we are seeing quite a few launches these days. Celkon, the Indian manufacturer of budget smartphones, has just launched a new device in its Millennia series – the Celkon Millennia Q450 for Rs. 4,799. This dual-SIM smartphone runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat and features a 4-inch IPS LCD display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage, and 1,800 mAh battery. There's a 5-megapixel primary camera on the back, along with autofocus and LED flash, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

This device is aimed at users looking for a little bit of style quotient in their smartphones. It features a patterned back, making it stand out in the overcrowded budget smartphone market. The device will be available in retail stores starting this week but there's no word about its online availability as of now.

"We are today pleased to launch a powerful and latest feature loaded model with an ultra-stylish design - Millennia Q450. The device is another milestone as it's a truly design oriented smartphone from Celkon's design house. This will be a game changer in the sub 5K category. We will continue to build such exciting portfolios to bring value for our customers."

Our Take

The Millennia Q450 comes with what every other Rs 4,000-5,000 smartphone comes with. Its slightly stylish looks might make it stand apart from the rest but other than that, there's nothing that gives the device an edge over its competition. It doesn't come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box even months after the operating system's public release. It's UI looks quite overbearing and Celkon isn't good when it comes to operating system updates, so we would't advise you to buy this device.
