HTC has confirmed via its HTC UK Twitter account that it will unveil its next flagship device, which is likely to be named as the 'HTC One M9', on March 1st. The company has used today’s European Champions League games to advertise the announcements on television. This confirmation is following the invites sent out by HTC last month for its MWC 2015 event in Barcelona scheduled for March 1. However, at that time HTC wasn’t clear on the focus of the event, but it was fairly reasonable to expect the launch of the next flagship.

The HTC One M9 is expected to feature a 5-inch 1080p display, a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 (MSM8994) processor, 20.7-megapixel camera, Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Sense 7.0 out of the box, metallic unibody design and front-facing stereo loudspeakers, and 4G LTE connectivity. It will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S6, which is expected to feature a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, metallic-and-glass construction, 20-megapixel primary camera, wireless charging, and 4G LTE connectivity.
