Microsoft announces the ultra-affordable Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 smartphones

Microsoft just announced the Lumia 532 and Lumia 435 (single and Dual SIM variants), most pocket-friendly Lumia smartphones till now, costing less than $100 (excluding taxes and subsidy). With this launch, Microsoft is aiming at the developing markets like India.

Both the variants of Lumia 435 come with a 4-inch WVGA (800×480) display, powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 SoC paired with 1GB of RAM. The phone runs on the latest Windows Phone 8.1 coupled with the Lumia Denim update, which adds Apps Corner, Live Folders and Cortana (Microsoft’s virtual assistant). It sports a 2-megapixel fixed-focus rear camera (lacking flash) and VGA front-facing camera. The phone also boasts the downlink speeds of 42.2Mbps on 3G, which is almost as good as it can before 4G.

The phone also features Lumia Camera app out-of-the-box along with the Lumia Selfie app for capturing, editing and sharing selfies. Also on-board is the HERE location service that comprises of free global HERE Maps and HERE Drive+Free HERE Transit, which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. The phone is launched at a price of 69 Euros ( US $82/ Rs. 5,054 approx.)

The Lumia 532 (in the image above) is also made to woo the budget segment, but the device features better hardware than the Lumia 435. It is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 200 CPU. Another feature that has an upper hand over the Lumia 435 is the camera, as Lumia 532 sports a 5-megapixel rear camera, the rest of the specifications are almost similar. The Lumia 532 will be available in bright orange, green, white and black. The first phase of the rollout will commence in Europe, APAC and IMEA starting from February, for a retail price of 79 EUR ($93/ Rs 5,800 approx.) excluding taxes.
