Honor has launched the successor to Honor 7C and aptly named it as Honor 8C. The new smartphone from Honor is the first one in the market to ship with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset, which is the direct successor to the popular Snapdragon 625 SoC. The Honor 8C also offers a 4000mAh battery, dual rear cameras, unique gradient design, but it disappoints in the display aspect as it boasts an HD+ panel, something which is unusual from the company. The phone takes on the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, Nokia 5.1 Plus and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, and it comes in two variants with 4GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. The premium variant falls in the price range of Honor 8X which in every aspect is better than the Honor 8C.

Honor 8C: Specifications and Features

The Honor 8C rocks a 6.26-inch FullView Display with HD+ resolution and the company the phone offers 86.6% screen-to-body ratio. As seen with several other Honor smartphones, there's a notch on top of the display and it's wider than the one present on the Honor 8X. The notch houses selfie camera, earpiece and proximity sensor. At the heart of the phone, we have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 32GB, 64GB of internal storage. The phone also has a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion. And yes, the phone is constructed out of the plastic- cost cutting comes into the play here.

The USP of the smartphone is the Snapdragon 632 SoC and the 4000mAh battery underneath, which clubbed with the chipset is said to deliver good battery life. Furthermore, gaming would also be better on this phone thanks to the HD+ display. The Honor 8C runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2 which is a feature packed skin. The phone also has a new generation eye comfort mode certified by TüV Rheinland, which is said to reduce blue light radiation emitted by the screen to prevent eye fatigue. EMUI allows you to configure the eye comfort mode.

As for the connectivity options, we get Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (no 5GHz support), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, dual-SIM and a Micro USB port.

Lastly, Honor has added dual cameras on the rear side of the Honor 8C; The phone has a primary 13MP shooter which works in tandem with a 2MP depth sensor. The Huawei sub-brand also added various Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based features to the handset. The Honor 8C is capable of recognising over 500 scenarios in 22 categories. On the front, there's an 8MP shooter for selfies and video calls. The phone also ships with an AI shopping feature which helps you find anything online.

Honor 8C: Pricing and Availability in India

The Honor 8C is an Amazon-exclusive smartphone in the sub-continent. As noted, it comes in two variants- 4GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. The 4GB+32GB variant is priced at Rs 11,999 and the 4GB+64GB variant comes at Rs 12,999. The first sale will take place on December 10.

Honor 8C: Competitors in India

The Honor 8C faces an uphill battle from the Nokia 5.1 Plus, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro. The Nokia 5.1 Plus features the powerful Helio P60 chipset and it delivers an exceptional gaming performance on a budget. The Redmi 6 Pro's cameras are superior than the Honor 8C, and the Max Pro M1 beats it in every aspect- display, hardware and battery. The Honor 8C scores in the design aspect when compared to the other three phones mentioned above and it performs better than the Redmi 6 Pro, thanks to the new chip.
