BSNL Takes on Private Broadband Operators by Offering 1500GB FUP Per Month

With the increase of the fibre connectivity in the country, the state-run telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is also not far behind in regards to the FTTH (Fibre-to-the-Home) plans which it is offering. The plans which are being offered by the telco provide up to 100 Mbps of speed in select circles across the country. Especially in Chennai, the PSU has made some changes to the Rs 4,999 FTTH plan. The recent changes which were made to the FTTH plans in the Chennai circle, bump up the FUP to 1500GB at 100Mbps. Post the completion of FUP limit, the users will be able to use the internet at 2 Mbps, which is sufficient for streaming videos and browsing social media. Besides the usual data FUP and unlimited internet, users will have the added benefit of one free email ID which will come with 5MB free space and the telco will also provide the users with one free static IP address.

And lastly, the plan also gives free calls within BSNL network, and there won’t be any additional charges for the calls made to BSNL network after the allotted free calls quota.

Besides the Rs 4,999 FTTH, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited also has five other FTTH plans starting from Rs 999 to Rs Rs 2999. The Rs 4999 is the premium BSNL FTTH plan. BSNL revised all these tariff plans with better data benefit and higher FUP. The Rs 999 FTTH broadband in Chennai now offers up to 60 Mbps of broadband connection and 250GB of FUP. The Rs 1299, Rs 1699, Rs 1999 and Rs 2999 broadband plans offer up to 80 Mbps download & upload speed, but the FUP different with each plan. The Rs 1299 plan comes with 400GB FUP, followed by the Rs 1699 plan with 550GB FUP The Rs 1999 and Rs 2999 plans offer 800GB and 900GB FUP limit per month. All the six plans offer an after FUP speed of 2 Mbps.

These FTTH plans from BSNL are surely on the steeper side because private telcos such as ACT Fibernet, Cherrinet, etc. are providing better benefits at lower rates.

I am happy with the true unlimited 10 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload speed in BSNL wired browdband since November 2017.

I am not a data exploiter. I normally use 30 to 60 GB per month including all devices in addition upto 5 GB per month on mobile data.

@Sudhakar Good that BSNL is working for you. A person using total 4GB per month can say that you are a data exploiter for using 35 to 65GB per month. But, nobody is data ‘exploiter’. People use what they pay for.

From July 2017 to October 2017, BSNL pre FUP speed was 4 Mbps. So BSNL gave true unlimited for 3 months. Then it has increased the speed to 10 Mbps from November 2017 onwards.
