The UAE’s Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) announced on Monday (November 4) that it will be the first in the energy industry to deploy autonomous, Agentic artificial intelligence (AI), developed in collaboration with G42, Microsoft, and AIQ. ADNOC and AIQ have agreed to leverage AI to enhance efficiency across the energy sector.
At the ADIPEC event, ADNOC and AIQ introduced ENERGYai, which they describe as the world’s first custom-built, agentic AI solution aimed at advancing global energy transformation. ENERGYai integrates large language model (LLM) technology with agentic AI—AI agents trained for specific tasks across ADNOC’s operations. This solution will also incorporate technologies like the Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) frameworks and OpenAI models.
“These specialised AI agents bring a new level of autonomy and precision to critical tasks, from seismic analysis to energy efficiency and real-time process monitoring. Designed for seamless integration into existing workflows, the agents harness state-of-the-art machine learning and predictive analytics, improving decision-making and operational efficiency,” ADNOC said.

For the first time, ADNOC will use agentic AI—developed by AIQ in partnership with Microsoft and G42—to analyse massive amounts of data to identify operational improvements in the energy industry, Al Jaber announced at ADIPEC’s conference on Monday.
Microsoft is one of the companies developing AI agents—systems designed to perform a variety of tasks independently, achieving capabilities beyond those of current AI models. Some organisations are reportedly already leveraging this “Agentic AI” for tasks like onboarding new employees and managing supply chains.

“It will speed up seismic surveys from months to days,” Al Jaber reportedly said, adding that it will also make the industry more sustainable by reducing emissions. “It will increase the accuracy of production forecasts by up to 90 percent.”
Trained on ADNOC’s 80 years of data, ENERGYai will enter testing with real-world datasets by the end of 2024. The Agentic AI solution will operate across ADNOC’s entire value chain, with the capability to perceive, think, learn, and act to drive value and sustainability.
Earlier this year, G42, an AI technology holding company and parent of AIQ’s majority shareholder Presight, announced a USD 1.5 billion strategic investment from Microsoft. Microsoft and G42 announced the establishment of two AI centers in Abu Dhabi, part of the investment strategy to position G42 as an AI powerhouse in the Middle East.
In October, AIQ joined Microsoft’s Cloud AI Partner Program and chose Azure as its primary cloud platform. Through the program, AIQ will create and market innovative Microsoft Cloud and AI solutions, engage in technical consultations, and offer skilling programs, with plans to launch its portfolio on the Azure Marketplace.
