Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 8 series in China yesterday. Now, Xiaomi India Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain, confirmed that both the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro would be launched in India within eight weeks. The company says the certification & testing of the phones might take up to eight weeks. Earlier, it was expected the phones to make their India debut before Diwali this year, taking on the upcoming phones from Vivo, Oppo, Samsung and Realme. However, that seems to be not the case after this announcement from Manu Jain. Notably, Realme is planning to launch the Realme XT with 64MP in September.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Series India Launch to Take Place in Eight Weeks
Right after the China launch, Xiaomi employees on Twitter said the phones would reach the Indian market very soon. Now, it seems like the launch will take place only after a month, thanks to some certifications and testing. To recall, the Redmi Note 7 series arrived back in February this year. The Redmi Note 8 series was launched in China yesterday and they come in two models- Redmi Note 8 and the Note 8 Pro. The Note 8 Pro is the premium model and it’s world’s first 64MP quad-camera smartphone to go on sale. The first sale of the handset is set to take place on September 3 in China. But Realme XT might be the first 64MP quad-camera smartphone to launch in India as Xiaomi says it’ll take at least eight weeks for them to launch the Note 8 Pro in India.
