Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 8 series in China yesterday. Now, Xiaomi India Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain, confirmed that both the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro would be launched in India within eight weeks. The company says the certification & testing of the phones might take up to eight weeks. Earlier, it was expected the phones to make their India debut before Diwali this year, taking on the upcoming phones from Vivo, Oppo, Samsung and Realme. However, that seems to be not the case after this announcement from Manu Jain. Notably, Realme is planning to launch the Realme XT with 64MP in September.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Series India Launch to Take Place in Eight Weeks

Right after the China launch, Xiaomi employees on Twitter said the phones would reach the Indian market very soon. Now, it seems like the launch will take place only after a month, thanks to some certifications and testing. To recall, the Redmi Note 7 series arrived back in February this year. The Redmi Note 8 series was launched in China yesterday and they come in two models- Redmi Note 8 and the Note 8 Pro. The Note 8 Pro is the premium model and it's world's first 64MP quad-camera smartphone to go on sale. The first sale of the handset is set to take place on September 3 in China. But Realme XT might be the first 64MP quad-camera smartphone to launch in India as Xiaomi says it'll take at least eight weeks for them to launch the Note 8 Pro in India.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Series: What Do They Offer?

The Redmi Note 8 series has two smartphones- Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The Note 8 Pro, in particular, is an interesting smartphone as it has two world's first features- the Helio G90T SoC and 64MP quad-camera setup on the back. The phone has a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, it has the MediaTek Helio G90T gaming chipset and up to 8GB of RAM. For the first time ever, Xiaomi is launching a Note series smartphone with 8GB of RAM. The Note 8 Pro features a primary 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor on the back, paired with 8MP ultra-angle-lens, 2MP macro-lens and 2MP depth sensor. Lastly, it's backed by a 4500mAh battery- again a first on any Redmi Note series phone.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, on the other hand, is a downgraded variant of the Note 8 Pro, but it comes with some decent specifications for the asking. The Redmi Note 8 has a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display and features a similar design as the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Underneath, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The primary rear camera sensor on the Redmi Note 8 is the 48MP Samsung GM2 and the rest of the three sensors are the same ones present on the Note 8 Pro.

The Redmi Note 8 is backed by a 4000mAh battery and has 18W charging support.
