The much-awaited announcement from Xiaomi India is finally here. Xiaomi Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro smartphones will be reaching the Indian market within six weeks from today. And yes, Xiaomi will be bringing both the phones under the Redmi sub-brand itself, so the Poco F2 will be a different smartphone altogether. To recall, Redmi, the independent brand in China unveiled the Redmi K20 mid-range smartphone and Redmi K20 Pro flagship smartphone last week at incredible prices. The Redmi K20 Pro will be a tough competitor to the OnePlus 7, which will be up for sale in India from tomorrow at a starting price of Rs 32,999. Most likely, the Redmi K20 Pro will retail for less than Rs 25,000 in the sub-continent as the Chinese price of the smartphone is 2499 Yuan (approx. Rs 25,186) for the base variant.

Xiaomi Reveals Redmi K20 Series Launch Date in India

Right after the launch of OnePlus 7 series in India, Xiaomi India officials took to Twitter stating that the 'Flagship Killer 2.0' is arriving soon. Everyone expected that the company would bring the Redmi K20 as Poco F2 to the Indian market, but that's not the case as Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the phones will be called as Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in the Indian market as well. Going by the current leaks on the web, the Redmi K20 will be available as Mi 9T while the Redmi K20 Pro could be launched as Mi 9T Pro in western markets.

As mentioned, the Redmi K20 series launch in India is scheduled to happen within six weeks from now, so the launch might happen in the second week of July. It's surprising to see Xiaomi did not reveal an exact launch date for the phones.

Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi K20: Specifications and Features

The Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro are very identical in terms of hardware specifications, but the only change is the processor. The Redmi K20 is powered by the newly launched Snapdragon 730 chipset, whereas the Redmi K20 Pro comes with the much powerful Snapdragon 855 SoC. Rest of the specifications of Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro are similar.

Both the phones sport a 6.39-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display on the front with a pop-up selfie camera and in-display fingerprint scanner. They offer triple rear cameras of a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor, 8MP telephoto lens and a 13MP wide-angle shooter. Xiaomi has added a 4000mAh unit to both the phones and they support 27W fast charging technology.

The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro were launched in multiple storage variants with the RAM going up to 8GB and the storage going all the way up to 256GB. In India, Xiaomi might launch only a few storage variants of both the phones because of its another sub-brand Poco which also deals with affordable flagship phones.
