Last week, OnePlus confirmed the new OxygenOS features from OnePlus 7 series would be added to older OnePlus smartphones like the OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5. As promised, the company is rolling out new OxygenOS beta update to its 2018 smartphones- the OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T. The OxygenOS Open Beta 11 for OnePlus 6T and the OxygenOS Open Beta 19 update for the OnePlus 6 brings screen recorder and Zen Mode features from the OnePlus 7 series. Alongside these two features, the company has fixed several bugs and the OTA update rollout has already commenced. For those who're interested in installing the OxygenOS Beta version for the first time, they can download the respective files from OnePlus Forums and install it manually.

OnePlus 6, 6T Gets Zen Mode and Screen Recorder Features

For the unaware, OnePlus introduced a lot of new OxygenOS features with the OnePlus 7 series. Now two of the important features are making it to the OnePlus 6 and 6T smartphones. Firstly, OnePlus has added the Screen Recorder feature which allows users to record their screen along with phone's internal audio. For example, this feature comes in extremely handy for gamers who want to record their gameplay on PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty, and post it on YouTube. As noted, the screen recorder also records internal gameplay audio which comes as a bonus feature to the gamers.

Next, the Chinese company has added the Zen Mode functionality, which basically allows users to stay away from their mobile phone for 20 minutes. The Zen Mode can be activated from the quick tiles in notification drawer; When enabled, you'll not be able to access your OnePlus phone for 20 minutes. I have found this feature very useful on the OnePlus 7 Pro. Other features like screenshot editor, Fnatic mode will be added to the Beta version very soon, as confirmed by OnePlus.

Aforesaid, OnePlus also fixed some bugs with the latest OxygenOS Beta update for OnePlus 6, 6T smartphones. The update brings the fix for the bug where Facebook messenger pops up notifications when in gaming mode. Also, the changelog mentions OnePlus has improved the smooth-scrolling experience. Lastly, OnePlus says it has optimised the logic of dialling a contact while using two SIM cards.

The update also brings a dedicated feature for Indian users, which can be found inside the Messaging app. The built-in Messaging app now supports PIN-TO-TOP for notification category.

New OxygenOS Open Beta for OnePlus 6, 6T Rolling Out via OTA

In the same Forum Post, OnePlus confirmed that it has already started rolling out the Open Beta update to both the OnePlus 6 and 6T smartphone users. For those who already have OxygenOS Open Beta ROM installed on their smartphone, they'll receive an OTA update notification. Other OnePlus 6, 6T smartphone users can install the latest OxygenOS Open Beta version on their smartphone by download the ROM package from OnePlus Forums page. Do make a note that the newly installed users will not lose their data, but if you want to downgrade from Open Beta to Stable ROM, then your phone will be fully wiped.
