Now that we have already seen the Google I/O 2019 and the major announcements it made in the tech world, we are already eyeing the next big conference of this year, which is the WWDC 2019. Now, the so-called iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max and the iPhone 11R are being leaked for the past few days, and these phones are going to be much-awaited ones this year like it is the case with every big release of Apple. However, before we spot these phones on the shelves, we are going to see some significant software releases by Apple including that of iOS, macOS, and watchOS. Out of these three, the iOS 13 is going to hog a lot of limelight, and thankfully, we have already got some info about the same. iOS 13 has been rumoured to be codenamed “Yukon”, and it has also been hinted to come with 5G support and new AR features in addition to the features listed below.

Dark Mode

The Dark Mode has been one of the most requested features by almost all smartphone users, and hence, the latest version of Android won’t be the only OS to bring this mode to the phones. Apple’s upcoming iOS 13 will also bring the Dark Mode on iPhones. Now there aren’t any more details or images to show us how this mode will look like on Apple devices, but we can expect it to be pretty much close to the high contrast display tweaked to reduce eye strain and save power.

Multitasking for iPad

With the last iteration of the iPad, Apple tried to sell its tablet as a laptop alternative, and it suffices to say that many users even took the leap. However, the only thing holding back the iPad from truly attaining a laptop-like feel was the OS. To solve this issue, this time Apple will be bringing Windows-based multitasking features similar to what we get to see on Samsung DeX. This way users will be able to work on multiple apps at one time, switch between them and dismiss the windows as required.

Revamped UI and Apps

Like every year, this time also the iOS is going to get a redesign. However, we don’t expect something very out of the ordinary. The new UI overhaul is likely to be more in line with iOS 11, and as per the latest reports on the new OS, there is going to be a redesigned volume slider and redesigned Apple Apps.

The Reminder app on iOS will be getting a big update this time with the main screen having four default sections laid out in a grid: tasks to be done today, all tasks, scheduled tasks, and flagged tasks. The Health App will also be improved with more comprehensive menstrual cycle tracking, and more. Other apps like Screen Time, iMessage, Apple Books and more will get little tweaks too.

Undo Gesture and Swipe Typing

This new feature will make its way to iOS 13 and will improve the typing and overall text related experience on the OS. Users will be able to do both undo and redo on text with gestures. They will be able to tap with three fingers on the keyboard and move either left and right to undo or redo as required. Additionally, Apple might include swipe typing to its OS this year similar to how it is present on Android to eliminate the need for third-party swipe typing apps.

Updates to Safari

Apple’s homely browser will get a new update along with with the OS, and this time on the iPad it has been tweaked to load the desktop version of websites by default. The Mail app on iOS will also get a revamp and is likely to get new features like individual thread muting.
