Motorola has finally started the rollout of Android 8.1 Oreo update to the Moto G4 Plus smartphone that was launched almost three years ago. The Moto G4 Plus initially arrived with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it was later updated to Android 7.0 Nougat. Before the Android 8.1 Oreo rollout, the G4 Plus was running Android Nougat itself. Having said that, the Android 8.1 Oreo update for Moto G4 Plus is only available to the users in the United States at the moment. The G4 Plus was one of the best-selling Moto G smartphones in India and it’s underwhelming to see the company delaying the update this long. Alongside the G4 Plus, the Moto Z3 Play is also getting Android 9 Pie update in the US.

Moto G4 Plus Android 8.1 Oreo Update for Indian Users Delayed
2018 was a tough year for Motorola as the company failed to deliver what users asked for. Motorola failed in two aspects last year- poor software updates and not-so-impressive smartphones. The only Motorola smartphone which impressed the audience is the Motorola One Power and the company is also supporting it with quick software updates.
Talking about the Moto G4 Plus, the phone was announced back in 2016. And the Android 8.1 Oreo update to the Moto G4 Plus is the third major one. After rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update, Motorola sort of stated that it will be the final update for the smartphone as it was not included in the Android Oreo list of smartphones. This irked many G4 Plus users and they’ve raised voice against the company.
