Follow Us

Lately, Xiaomi has been slashing prices of some of its smartphones in India. In its latest move, the Chinese manufacturer has cut down the price of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro by Rs 2,000. The phone is also one of the most successful devices by Xiaomi in the year 2018. Courtesy of this price cut, now the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model of the device is available for Rs 12,999 in the market. Xiaomi has also slashed the prices of one of its other very impressive offerings, the Mi A2, and this device has received a Rs 3,000 price cut thus bringing its retail price down to Rs 13,999. Xiaomi also brought the Redmi Note 6 Pro to India late in November 2018 and it's a tweaked version of the Note 5 Pro. The Note 6 Pro starts at Rs 13,999, while the Note 5 Pro is now available at Rs 12,999. So which one to choose between the two? Let's find out.

Comparison Between the Latest and the Successful

As such, the question arises whether to go for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro or the Redmi Note 6 Pro. If you have seen our reviews of both the phones, then you know that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is an improvement over its predecessor, and it comes with a price tag which is Rs 1,000 more than that of Redmi Note 5 Pro, but we have reasons to believe that for anyone considering to decide between both these devices, that they should go for the latest Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro.

There is also no doubt that the Redmi Note 5 Pro is going to be the obvious choice for the people out there since with two subsequent price cuts the Redmi Note 5 Pro is available as a steal deal. The phone’s base model is available for Rs 12,999 whereas its 6GB RAM, and 64GB model is available for Rs 13,999. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 6 Pro which is the latest release by Xiaomi in this segment is available for Rs 13,999 for its base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The top end model of this phone is retailing for the price of Rs 15,999, and it comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.

It's All About the Camera and Display

Even though the Note 6 Pro is a whole Rs 1,000 more expensive than the predecessor, we believe that buying the latest from Xiaomi will be a much better decision on the part of the buyers. In performance, both the phone are identical, however, when it comes to the camera and display, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has a clear edge. Not only that, but the phone also fares well when it comes to the design and aesthetics as well. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is the first Note from Xiaomi to sport the notch, owing to which the phone has slimmer bezels and much more modern design.

Also, as we mentioned above, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is a better choice when it comes to the display. The phone sports a 6.26-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. There is also the Corning Gorilla 2.5D curved glass for protection. On the camera and imaging front, the phone sports a quad camera setup with two sensors on the front and two on the rear side. This camera setup includes a 12MP primary sensor with Dual Pixel autofocus and an f/1.9 aperture lens. The secondary camera has a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, the Redmi Note 6 Pro flaunts a 20MP camera and 2MP secondary camera.

The Note 6 Pro also boots MIUI 10 out of the box and it feels way better than the MIUI 10 on Redmi Note 5 Pro- optimisation matters.

Given the reasons for the camera, display and better design, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is definitely a better choice between the two phones. However, if budget is a constraint for you, then going for the Redmi Note 5 Pro is also completely justified since, at its heart, even the Redmi Note 6 Pro is just an improvement over the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
