Xiaomi today announced its second major announcement out of the five announcements it promised this week. After reducing the price of Xiaomi Mi A2, the Chinese company has now slashed the prices of Redmi Note 5 Pro in the sub-continent. The Redmi Note 5 Pro's price in India now starts at Rs 12,999. The base variant of Redmi Note 5 Pro with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage is now available for Rs 12,999, while the 6GB+64GB variant is retailing for Rs 13,999. With the price cut, the Note 5 Pro becomes Xiaomi's cheapest smartphone with 6GB of RAM in the country. It's also amongst one of the cheapest phones with 6GB of RAM in India. Furthermore, Xiaomi also announced that it sold more than 10 million Redmi Note 5 devices in India since February 2018, an incredible achievement.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Price in India Cut

The Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched at Rs 13,999 in India, but later on, Xiaomi increased the price to Rs 14,999. However, right before the launch of Redmi Note 6 Pro, Xiaomi reduced the price of Note 5 Pro in India by Rs 1,000. After that price drop, the Redmi Note 5 Pro sold for Rs 13,999 and Rs 15,999 respectively. Now, Xiaomi has reduced the price even more to boost the sales. The new prices of the Redmi Note 5 Pro are Rs 12,999 for the 4GB+64GB option and Rs 13,999 for the 6GB+64GB variant.

Notably, Xiaomi has the Redmi Note 6 Pro priced at Rs 13,999 and Rs 15,999 respectively, so this price cut for the Note 5 Pro makes complete sense as it has some shortcomings compared to the former. The Redmi Note 6 Pro features upgraded dual rear cameras, dual front-facing cameras, slightly tweaked design and refined MIUI 10.

The Note 5 Pro is still one of the best mid-range smartphones you can purchase right now. Especially, if Rs 1,000 makes a difference for you, then you can choose the Note 5 Pro ahead of Redmi Note 6 Pro. Interestingly, the Mi A2 is also available at a starting price of Rs 13,999. The price drop on Note 5 Pro is already effective across Mi.com, Amazon India, Flipkart, Mi Home stores and all the offline stores where it's available.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro: Specifications and Features

The Redmi Note 5 Pro rocks a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display on the front with a resolution of 1080x2160 pixels. Underneath, it has the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, clubbed with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This dual-SIM smartphone has a hybrid microSD card slot which allows users to expand the storage up to 256GB.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro now comes with MIUI 10 out of the box and it also supports Dual 4G and VoLTE. As for the cameras, Xiaomi has added a 12MP primary shooter on the back which works in tandem with a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, the Note 5 Pro has a 20MP selfie shooter. This entire package is backed by a 4000mAh battery and the phone lacks fast charging support. The Redmi Note 5 Pro can now be purchased in Black, Gold, Red and Lake Blue colour options.
