Honor, which is riding high on the success of Honor 8X and Honor 8C smartphones is all set to bring a new handset to the Indian market this month. Huawei's sub-brand Honor is set to launch Honor 10 Lite with a 24MP selfie camera, its home-grown Kirin 710 processor and a dewdrop notch display in India in mid-January, industry sources told IANS on Friday. The Honor 10 Lite was launched in China back at the end of November, and it will be the first time, the smartphone maker is ditching wide-notch design in favour of a dewdrop-style notch, which would render over 91% screen-to-body ratio to the device. The Honor 10 Lite will come as a downgraded version of the Honor 10 which was the company's last flagship handset to launch in India.

Honor 10 Lite: Specifications and Features

The upcoming smartphone would feature Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered features and an updated EMUI 9.0 Operating System (OS). It could be Honor's first smartphone to boot Android 9 Pie out of the box in India. The smartphone would be equipped with scene detection technology with AI on both rear and front cameras. Having said that, the Honor 10 Lite is the successor to Honor 9 Lite that was launched in India back in May 2018.

The Honor 9 Lite was a huge success for the brand as it was the first Honor smartphone to cross one million sales in India. Honor achieved the feat because the 9 Lite was the first quad-camera smartphone to launch under Rs 15,000. Also, the phone featured a unique design which competitors failed to achieve in the price range.

The Honor 10 Lite doesn't feature quad cameras, but it does have the gradient design and Honor's unique design language. Furthermore, it could be Honor's cheapest smartphone with Kirin 710 chipset.

Delving into the specifications, the Honor 10 Lite rocks a 6.21-inch Full HD+ display, rendering a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. Honor added a dewdrop style notch to the smartphone, which makes the phone look more modern. The Honor 10 Lite comes powered by the Kirin 710 chipset, coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. These are the storage variants launched in China, but in India, we may see some differences though. There's even a 6GB+128GB version in India, but chances are very less of it making to the sub-continent.

The dewdrop notch houses a 24MP selfie camera. On the rear side, there are two cameras of 13MP+2MP. As seen with various other Honor smartphones in the past, the Honor 10 Lite also comes with various AI features. The phone has a USB Type-C port on the bottom and is backed by a 3400mAh battery. It measures 7.95mm in thickness and weighs 162 grams.

Honor 10 Lite: Expected Pricing in India

The Honor 9 Lite was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 10,999, which made it an attractive purchase ahead of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. The Honor 10 Lite could be priced around Rs 12,999 because of the glass build, 24MP selfie camera and the Kirin 710 SoC. It will be interesting to see how Honor priced the smartphone in India since it will be the company's first launch this year.

Honor View 20 Coming to India as Well

Honor already confirmed that it's going to bring the Honor View 20 smartphone to the Indian market as well. The Honor View 20 was launched in China last month and it's one of the first smartphones to have a punch hole display. The View 20 will also be Honor's first smartphone with the Kirin 980 SoC. The smartphone is expected to be priced around Rs 30,000 in the Indian market. The Honor 10 Lite and the Honor View 20 are expected to debut at the same event.
