Reliance Jio Achieves Average Download Speed of 20.3 Mbps During November 2018: Trai

Despite witnessing a slight drop in the average 4G download speeds, Reliance Jio has been topping the charts of the 4G download speed tests being conducted by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai). As per the Trai data, Jio averaged the download speed of 20.3 Mbps, which is a decline from October’s 22.3 Mbps. It is worth noting that this entire year, Reliance Jio has witnessed fluctuating averages for the download speeds with speeds rising and falling every next month. However, the telecom operator has not yet touched its high of 25.6 Mbps which it had registered last year.

Reliance Jio Tops the Chart of 4G Average Download Speeds

The second-ranking telecom operator in India, Bharti Airtel managed to rank second in the download speed charts as well in November. Airtel improved its download speeds this month as it averaged 9.7 Mbps as opposed to the 9.5 Mbps download speed last month. Unlike Reliance Jio’s download speeds which have seen a great deal of deviation from the average every other month, Airtel’s download speeds have remained inside the 9-10 Mbps mark.

Another thing to note in the Trai speed testing data is that despite the merger of Vodafone and Idea, Trai still shares separate data for these companies. This month’s 4G download speeds report put Vodafone on the third rank with an average speed of 6.8 Mbps, which is a marginal improvement from last month’s speed of 6.6 Mbps. On the other hand, Idea Cellular’s average download speeds witnessed a decline from 6.4 Mbps to 6.2 Mbps.
