HMD Global has been one device manufacturer which has released a hefty number of phones with the Android One certification. Almost every Nokia phone launched by HMD this year has come with Android One certification, stock Android and with promises of quick and speedy monthly security patch and latest Android updates. The Nokia 8, which is one of the highest selling devices from HMD Global was also slated to receive the Android 9 Pie update in November. However, as per a new report, the scheduled updated has been delayed by a few days courtesy of some technical problems. It’s also noteworthy that the Nokia 7.1 and the Nokia 7 Plus also received the Android 9 Pie update only a few days ago.
Technical Issue Behind Update's Delay
HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas tweeted via his official Twitter handle that the team over at Nokia had been working on the Android 9 Pie update for the Nokia 8, but due to an unresolved technical issue, the rollout of the update has been delayed. Juho in his tweet said that the update has been delayed by a “couple of more days”.
Juho’s tweet read, “We have been burning the midnight oil to get your Nokia 8 on Android Pie. Unfortunately, we still have few issues to address and need a couple of more days to make it perfect. Thank you for your patience.”
At the time of the launch, the Nokia 8 was the flagship offering by HMD Global. Initially, the Nokia 8 debuted last October, and it booted Android 7.1 onboard. The device finally received the Android Oreo update in February this year. The phone features Carl Zeiss branded lenses for the dual rear camera setup which comes with 13MP cameras on the rear side. The display on the Nokia 8 is a 5.3-inch Quad HD screen, and under the hood, the phone comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The Nokia 8 currently retails for Rs 29,999 presently in India.
