HMD Global has started sending out media invites for an event in India scheduled to be on December 6. The Finnish giant is expected to launch the much-awaited Nokia X7 global variant, the Nokia 8.1 in the country. This event on December 6, is going to closely follow an HMD Global event in Dubai where we expect the company to reveal the Nokia 8.1, Nokia 2.1 Plus and another highly anticipated phone, the Nokia 9. The Nokia Mobile India Twitter has also been active lately, as the handle has been making tweets with the #ExpectMore hashtag, and there have been teasers about a notch on one of these phones. Further, we also expect the brand to launch the same phones in India which will be released in Dubai on December 5.

India Launch Event Scheduled for December 6

HMD Global sent out these media invites with a header reading “Save the Date”, thus confirming December 6 as the date for the launch event. Also, the Twitter of the Nokia Mobile has hinted towards the launch of the Nokia X7 which could be rebranded as the Nokia 7.1 Plus or Nokia 8.1. Previously we had seen some reports surfacing online which claimed that the Nokia 8.1 would debut in India in 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option with a Rs 23,999 price tag. Also, for the readers who might not know. The Nokia 8.1 is going to be the global variant of the Nokia X7 which was released recently in China last month. When the phone was launched with the Nokia X7 moniker, it came with a CNY 1,699 price tag (about Rs 17,300) for the entry-level 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, whereas its 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage option came with a price tag of CNY 1,999 (approx. Rs 20,300). Lastly, the top end model of the phone with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage cost CNY 2,499 (approx. Rs 25,400).

In its event which is going to be held in Dubai, a day before its Indian launch, the Finnish brand might launch the Nokia 8.1, Nokia 2.1 and also the long-awaited Nokia 9. Also, it is expected that HMD Global will launch the same phones in India as well and will repeat the entire line-up. In its Europe launch last month, HMD Global had launched the Nokia 7.1 whose price was EUR 299 (Rs 24,400 approx.) to EUR 349 (Rs 29,500). During this European launch of the device, the company had stated that the phone would also launch in India and that HMD would soon publicise the Indian pricing. We expect Nokia to make all the details public in the upcoming December 6 event.

Nokia 9 and Nokia 2.1 Plus Might Also be Launched

In the launch line-up, we will possibly get to see the Nokia 2.1 Plus which will come with a notched display. Also, the Nokia 9 will likely be released as well which has been rumoured to come with a 6.01-inch display along with a Gorilla Glass 5 protection, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage along with a 4150mAh battery. There have been hints about the Nokia 9 not coming with a notched display.

Although we expect HMD Global to launch this phone in the upcoming event, we would recommend you to take the news with a pinch of salt since the brand might withhold the launch of the Nokia 9 and might introduce another phone altogether at its India event.
