This Could Be Our First Look at the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 With a Notch

Taiwanese smartphone brand, Asus, already confirmed that it would be launching the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 in Indonesia on December 11. And the successor to the popular Zenfone Max Pro M1 is already making headlines on the internet. Up until now, we have seen specifications of the Max Pro M2 surfacing on the web, but now, it seems like we have a render of the handset. Asus has submitted information on a smartphone with the model name- ASUS_X01BD_1 to Google Play Console's device catalogue. This could be the Zenfone Max Pro M2. The low-resolution render reveals the Max Pro M2 will have a notch on top of the display and a small chin. From the front, the phone looks the Zenfone 5Z, but as you can see, the wallpaper and app icons resemble the Zenfone Max Pro M1.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 Might Boot Android 8.1 Oreo Out of the Box

This listing was spotted by folks at XDA and it also has some specifications of the handset. Firstly, Asus submitted the 6GB RAM version of the Max Pro M2 to the Google Play Console. But we could see the phone coming out in 3GB, 4GB RAM variants as well. Furthermore, the phone is listed to come out with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box which is rather disappointing as Asus launched the Max Pro M1 also with the same iteration of Android. The company might release Android 9 Pie update early next year.

Zenfone Max Pro M2 With Triple Rear Cameras

Earlier, tipster Roland Quandt revealed details of the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 via a tweet. The post mentioned that the Zenfone Max Pro M2 would be launching “soon”. The leakster reveals that the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will come in two variants, one with model number ZB634KL while the other one with ZB631KL. He further reveals that the Asus phone will come with triple camera setup on the rear panel. Having said that, this Asus phone will be the first device from the company to sport three cameras on the back side. In the tweet, Quandt says that one of the two variants of the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will sport three cameras on the back side, while the second model of the phone will pack dual cameras. On the front, both the models are said to come packed with single selfie cameras.

In addition to Zenfone Max Pro M1, Asus is also said to be working on the successor to the Zenfone Max M1 aka Max M2. As of now, Asus is expected to launch the Zenfone Max Pro M2 in India, while the Max M2 is said to go official only next year.

Triple Camera Phones in the Market

Smartphone manufacturers are going gaga over triple and quad cameras. Samsung recently launched the Galaxy A7 (2018) with triple rear cameras and Galaxy A9 (2018) with four cameras on the back. The Galaxy A7 (2018) has already been launched in India for a starting price tag of Rs 22,990. This price is for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. Meanwhile, some rumours suggest that the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will launch as the cheapest triple-camera phone in India. The smartphone is expected to come with a price tag of around Rs 15,000 in India.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 Rumored Specifications

Both the Zenfone Max Pro M2 and Zenfone Max M2 have been subjected to several leaks and rumours already. Rumours suggest that both the Asus smartphones will ship with the Android Oreo operating system out-of-the-box. On the hardware front, the Zenfone Max Pro M2 is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series chipset. As of now, there’s no confirmation if Asus will stick to Snapdragon 636 or use a more powerful Snapdragon 600-series chipset to power the Zenfone Max Pro M1.

Rumours suggest that the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will come in three variants -- 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage. All the three models of the smartphone are expected to include a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion of the storage. Some rumours also reveal that the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will sport a 6.3-inch display with Full HD+ resolution. The phone will also come with a notched display and is expected to be backed by a battery between 5000mAh to 5300mAh.
