Samsung Galaxy On8 is the latest mid-range smartphone from the South Korean smartphone company. The Galaxy On8 is the new online-exclusive smartphone from Samsung India. The smartphone will be exclusively available for purchase on Flipkart and Samsung Online Shop starting August 6. As it was reported earlier, the Galaxy On8 comes with the Snapdragon 450 chipset and is the third smartphone from Samsung to sport the said SoC. Samsung has also added other features such as Super AMOLED Infinity display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio, Android 8.0 Oreo and a beefy 3500mAh battery. The Galaxy On8 takes on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Honor 9N and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 smartphones in India.

"Galaxy On8 sports Samsung's signature 'Infinity Display' and is a device with state-of-the-art hardware and software features. We have emphasised more on the camera, which is one of the most used features by millennials today," Sandeep Singh Arora, Vice President, Online Business, Samsung India, said in a statement.

Samsung Galaxy On8 Specifications and Features

The Galaxy On8 packs a 6-inch Super AMOLED "Infinity Display". The device sports 18.5:9 screen providing nearly 15% more display area without increasing the overall size of the handset, the company said. Cameras on the Galaxy On8 include a 16MP+5MP sensors on the rear side. The device comes with "background blur shape", "portrait dolly" and "portrait backdrop" features.
It also comes with Samsung's "Make for India" feature- "Chat Over Video", which allows an uninterrupted video viewing experience while chatting.

The Galaxy On8 sports a polycarbonate unibody and a 16MP front camera. The device comes with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system (OS), Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and 3500mAh battery. The smartphone comes in a single 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 256 GB.

Samsung Galaxy On8 Pricing and Availability in India

The Galaxy On8, as mentioned, is exclusive to Flipkart and Samsung Shop Online. Samsung has set a price of Rs 16,990 for the Galaxy On8, and it can be purchased from both the portals starting August 6.

Samsung Galaxy On8 Competitors in India

The Samsung Galaxy On8's primary competitor in India is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, which features far better specifications. The Note 5 Pro offers the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, 12MP+5MP dual rear cameras, bigger 4000mAh battery, 18:9 display and also a cheaper price tag of Rs 14,999 for the 4GB+64GB storage.

Another competitor for the Galaxy On8 is the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 which is available at a starting price of Rs 10,999. The Max Pro M1 comes with Snapdragon 636 SoC, 13MP+5MP dual rear cameras and a 5000mAh battery.

Sports Similar Specifications as the Samsung Galaxy A6+

The Galaxy On8 offers similar specifications as the Galaxy A6+ which is priced way higher at Rs 23,990. The Galaxy A6+ also has a 6-inch Super AMOLED display on the front with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It boots Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC and is backed by a 3500mAh battery. Cameras on the Galaxy A6+ include a 16MP primary shooter which works in tandem with a secondary 5MP depth sensor. The A6+ comes with a better 24MP selfie shooter on the front, while the Galaxy On8 has a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video calls.

The Samsung Galaxy A6+ can be purchased across both online and offline channels, while the Galaxy On8 is exclusive to Flipkart. Also, the Galaxy On8 is a rebranded version of the Galaxy J8, which was launched last month for Rs 18,990, but the only difference is the On8 is an online-only smartphone.
