Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Debuts With Snapdragon 710 SoC and 3120mAh Battery

Alongside the flagship Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone, the Chinese company also unveiled a stripped down version of the same smartphone, dubbed as the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. The Mi 8 SE is the third smartphone launched by Xiaomi today, alongside the standard Mi 8 and the premium Mi 8 Explorer Edition. Also, the Mi 8 SE happens to be the first smartphone with Snapdragon 710 processor, which is the successor to last year's Snapdragon 660 SoC. The Mi 8 SE also shares a lot of similarities with the Mi 8 such as the notch and design, but the hardware has been downgraded to appeal the mid-range customers.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Specifications and Features
The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE sports a smaller 5.88-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, same as the flagship Mi 8. It also has the same notch on top and the aspect ratio of 18.7:9. The display has brightness levels of 600 nits. Things get very interesting when we look at the hardware side of things. The Mi 8 SE comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, which is a capable chipset that can handle all the intensive tasks with ease.

The phone comes in two RAM and storage options. A 4GB RAM version is coupled with 64GB storage and a 6GB RAM version with 64GB of internal storage. Xiaomi has added dual cameras at the back side of the phone. The Mi 8 SE has a 12MP primary sensor that's paired with a 5MP secondary depth sensor. Up front, we get a 20MP selfie shooter. Seems like the camera setup is unchanged when compared to the Redmi Note 5 in China.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE comes in four colour options- Dark Gray, Gold, Bright Blue and Red. The phone is backed by a 3120mAh battery. Xiaomi did not reveal whether the device boots MIUI 10 out of the box or it comes with the old MIUI 9. The physical fingerprint scanner is placed at the rear side of the phone.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Pricing
The smartphone comes in two configurations. The base variant is priced at 1799 Yuan (approx. 18,900), whereas the premium variant comes at a price of 1999 Yuan (approx. Rs 20,999).

Xiaomi did not confirm the device's availability in other countries such as India. Also, it may not be launched in other countries because the Snapdragon 710 seems limited to the Chinese market at the moment.
